We are informed that Joseph E Benjamin died at his home in Hubbell last Monday evening after a lingering illness with chronic bowel trouble. The funeral was held Wednesday, the burial taking place at what is known as Sherman Cemetery.

Joseph E. Benjamin was born near Clarke's Mill, now Odessa, Canada, on June 17, 1837. On the evening of August 7 after a long and painful illness he passed quietly from this of sorrow and suffering to the mysteries of the spirit land. The deceased leaves a wife, three sons, three daughters, two sons-in-law, two grandsons, eight brothers, many more distant relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss.∼***My Second Great Uncle***
Joseph was born in Simcoe Falls, Lennox & Addington, Ontario, Canada. His parents were ELIJAH BENJAMIN, b. 30 Aug, 1808, Canaan, Columbia County, NY, d. 20 Feb, 1882, Jackson City, Jackson County, MN, and, CYNTHIA LANE, b. 14 Dec, 1812, Lennox & Addington, Ontario, Canada, d. 06 Sep, 1896, Hubbell, Thayer County, NE.
Note: Joseph and his cousin George married sisters Samantha and Sarah Lockwood.
