Upland -- Rev. Fred A. Smith died Saturday in a Hawthorne hospital. He was born Nov 5, 1879, in Algona, IA.
He lived in the Hawthorne-Inglewood area 34 years, formerly lived in Upland, and pastored the Upland Nazarene Church from 1930 to 1934.
Survivors include his widow, Agnes; two sons, Robert F. Smith of Moraga, and Paul A. Smith of Olympia, WA; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret S. Decker of Pomona, and Mrs. Lois Quale of Arcadia; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 am Wednesday at Grace Chapel in Inglewood Park Cemetery. Burial will follow.
