Frank was born Francis Oscar Bigham. At some point he switched from Oscar to Emanuel, his grandfather was Emanuel Bigham. By the time he was an adult he always used the name Frank. Not sure why he chose to add an 'n' to his last name and go by Bingham, but in researching the family history I have seen quite a bit of interchanging of Bigham/Bingham on the family line. Frank's brother Hayden went back and forth between using Bigham and Bingham, but Frank's other six siblings stayed with the name Bigham. After serving with the Army during WW I (Texas) he settled in Akron, Ohio. All records of his name showed Frank E. Bingham from that time on and in 1957 he legally changed his name to Frank Emanuel Bingham.
