Leona and her husband were a truck driving team employed by Ouachita Marine Boat Co. and Keith Smith trucking for twenty-four years. She was a Leader of Trinity 4-H Club, past president of Okolona PTA, and a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Leona enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, traveling, tending to her flowers, reading, and socializing with her family, friends, and strangers. Leona will always be remembered for her graciousness, hospitality, and her loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Glen, Dennis, and Owen Cash, four sisters, Augusta Reasons, Allie Clark Young, Beatrice Fowler Giddens, and Joan Jackson.
Leona was a faithful servant to her Lord and partner to her husband of seventy-four years, Joe McCauley of Arkadelphia, two sons, Joe Vance McCauley (Vickie) of Okolona and Randy McCauley (Rose Ann) of Arkadelphia, two daughters, Voncile Smith (Jackie) of Okolona and Robin Lynn Nilsson of McKinney, TX, seventeen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, one special nephew, Dean Clark of Antoine, sister-in-laws Judy McCauley and Tommie Lou McCauley both of Okolona and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Williams officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Smyrna Cemetery Fund, c/o Vonnie Smith, 1369 Davidson Campground Rd, Okolona, AR 71962.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
