Ida Minerva (Bradshaw) Turner was born to Cecil Clement Bradshaw and Laura Belle (Emmons) Bradshaw on April 9, 1921 in Attica, Kansas. When she was seven years old the family moved to Duquoin, Kansas where Cecil opened a grocery store and operated the post office. There she attended the church of Christ where her father would preach and lead singing. While she was able, Ida faithfully attended the church of Christ all of her life. Ida attended the one room schoolhouse, Antelope School, just south of Duquoin through grade school and then attended high school at Harper, Kansas where she graduated in 1938 as the valedictorian.

On December 11, 1938, Ida married Nevin Turner in Harper at the home of Sam and Aneri Turner. Their first home was a farm north of Driftwood, Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma their daughter Margaret Elaine was born. In the fall of 1941 they returned to the family farm in Harper County Kansas. In 1943 their first son Dennis Dell was born.

In 1946 they purchased a farm in Sedgwick County near Mulvane. They lived there for 16 years, where their second son Nevin Mark was born in 1952. While Nevin tended crops and cattle, Ida was in charge of the chickens, often picking over 100 eggs a day which helped provide groceries for the family. In 1962 they sold their farm in Sedgwick County and purchased a dairy farm near Norwich, Kansas. Nevin and Ida were both active with the dairy until 1981. In 1990 they purchased a home in the city of Harper. In March of 1996, Nevin passed unexpectedly. They were married for over 57 years. Ida was still very independent, driving and living alone until an unfortunate home accident required her to go to the Anthony Community Care Center in 2018.

Although Ida was foremost a farmer and a farm wife, she was a talented artist winning ribbons at both the county and state fair levels. She also wrote and published hymns and was very musically talented. Her family remembers times when she would set down and play a song on the piano that she had just heard on the radio. Later in life she was very involved in genealogy. She belonged to the Genealogical Society and she and Nevin sometimes spent their vacations visiting courthouses and cemeteries across the nation doing research.

Ida celebrated her 100th birthday on April 9th, and then on June 30, 2021 Ida passed away quietly at the Anthony Community Care Center and went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Aneri Turner (Sam) and Bernice (Bea) Wiley (Virgil), daughter Elaine Barber, grandson Rick High, and nieces: Patty Griffith and Mary Knox.

Ida is survived by sons: Dennis Turner (Jan) of Harper: Mark Turner (Julie) of Norwich, Kansas; son-in-law Eddie Barber of Harper; grandchildren: Bob High (Eva) of Wichita, Kansas, David High (Nancy) of Harper, Mary Clouse (Doug) of Massilion, Ohio, Cheryl Wintermantel (Mikel) of Allegany, New York, Greg Turner of Cheney, Kansas, Aaron Turner (Diane) of Harper, Lacey Huffman, (Ray) of Buhlar, Kansas, Jared Turner (Jannell) of Norwich, John Turner (Alicia) of Great Bend, Kansas, Thad Turner (Kristen) of Kingman, Kansas, Greg Barber (Rachel) of Lewisville, Texas, Brian Barber (Pam) of San Antonio, Texas; 25 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
