Murray, Utah—Martha Ann Lowe Hammond died June 26th, 2021 in Murray, Utah. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho to LaVelle (Larry) Woodford Hammond and Ella Lowe Hammond and raised in Boise, Idaho; Baker City, Oregon; and Brigham City, Utah. She attended the University of Utah, but graduated from Brigham Young University. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and treasured both her membership and her testimony. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir under Richard Condie, a hostess at the Beehive House for many years, a docent at Hogle Zoo, and a member of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Advisory Board. Martha taught English at Highland High School in its earliest years, much later was a branch manager of Sam Weller Books and, even later, a classroom assistant at Mountain View Elementary School.. She was a lover of American history, the fine arts, and the Boston Red Sox.

Martha is survived by her son Gregory Stewart Young (wife Evyan Streitfeld) and their son Alasdair, and by her son Steven Clark Young (wife Andrea Young), his daughter Ava and his son Brooks. Being Grammy to her three grandchildren was the joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister Elisabeth Hammond Boyd, two nephews, a niece, and many dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Willard City Cemetery (470 N. Main St.. Willard, Utah) on Thursday, July 1st at 11:00 A.M. Martha will be surrounded by her parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
