Rita Rose Meyers, 76, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at her residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Louis-Arts officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Meyers was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Ponca, Neb., the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Fitzgerald) Adams. She graduated from Ponca High School. She married Melvin E. Meyers on Nov. 27, 1946, in Troy, Kan. He died Feb. 12, 1994, in Sioux City. They raised their family and lived in Sioux City. They were married for 48 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, camping, gardening, reading and socializing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her children (redacted); five brothers, Jesse and his wife, Mary of Bristol, Va., Clarence and his wife, Jeri of Hastings, Neb., Louis of Lincoln, Neb., Francis and his wife, Betty of Minden, Neb., and Bernard and his wife, Cathy of Ponca; 16 grandchildren (redacted); three great-grandchildren (redacted); and seven great-stepgrandchildren. She also was preceded in death by daughters, Betty Ann Allen and Joan M. Kelley; infant daughters, Mary Rita and Liza Marie Meyers; an infant son, Philip Douglas Meyers; two premature infants; and two brothers, Donald and Patrick.
Pallbearers will be Chad Brown, Terry Honeycutt Jr., Troy Bostwick, Kyle McCoy, Jason Olson and Doug Meyers. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
