Otis E. Boyer, age 87, of Rockledge, passed away on June 28, 2021.
Mr. Boyer was born in Rockledge to the late Mr. Chauncey Boyer and Zilphia Wilkes Boyer. He was an educator with 30 years of experience working in the Laurens and Bleckley County School systems. Mr. Boyer was a farmer and a member of Rockledge United Methodist Church. He was also a Mason with the Laurens County Lodge 75.
In addition to his parents, Otis was preceded in death by his brother, William Boyer.
He is survived by his nieces, Lynne Drew and Dr. Carol Boyer, both of Dublin; sister-in-law, Marlene Boyer, of Rockledge; great-nieces, Dana Faircloth (Daniel) of Guyton, GA., Kimberly Castle (James) of Athens; great-great-niece, Anna Castle of Athens.
Services for Mr. Boyer will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021, beginning at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with an interment to follow at Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Barbara Nelson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the funeral hour.
John V. Thigpen, Tommy Wood, Tom Harrison, Bobby Wood, Sonny Drum, and Jay Simpson will serve as pallbearers.
