Mary Belle Burleson Schrimpf
October 6th, 1914 – January 7th, 2011

Mary Burleson Schrimpf, 96, passed peacefully January 7th to join family, friends and the Lord.

Born in Navarro County in 1914 to James David Burleson and Stella Ann Marsh, Mary was one of nine siblings. She moved to Dallas in 1922 and graduated from Woodrow Wilson HS in 1934. For over 60 years, Mary and her late husband John A. Schrimpf, a noted engineer- AIA Architect, lived in University Park. Mary was involved in many civic organizations and was a renowned national flower judge, she was a founding member of the Dallas Garden Center at Fair Park and was an active member in DRT, DAR and served on the Alamo committee. She was active in the World Council of Affairs, The Dallas Women's forum and hosted many dignitaries at her home.

Considered the historian of the family, Mary spent countless hours documenting both the Burleson and Marsh families as the pioneering group who helped establish the great state of Texas.

Faith was a guiding principle in her life and she attended First Methodist Church in Dallas, Lakewood Assembly of God, Highland Park Baptist, and most recently Mount Gilead Baptist church in Keller.

Survivors include her only son, John Burleson Schrimpf and his wife Pixie Lynne, their 6 children, Joshua, Seth, Mistybleu, Aaron, Jonathan and Raven and 10 great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.

Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 12th at the Corley's Funeral Home Chapel. She was laid to rest in the family section of Hopewell cemetery in Navarro, TX. An online guestbook is available at: www.corleyfuneralhome.com by selecting the Mary Schrimpf obituary.
