Joseph married Anna (Carver) Richards on December 14, 1721 in Weymouth, Suffolk county, Province of Massachusetts Bay. They did not have children.
Joseph lived in Weymouth, where he held such town offices as fence viewer, surveyor of highways, etc., being styled Junior in the town records. Joseph sold a mill at Abington, 1704 (probably being interested with Matthew Pratt, his cousin, in business). In 1704-5, he moved to Bridgewater with his cousin, William Pratt, where he again held positions of trust in the town affairs, being on the Grand Jury, February 17, 1720, and a selectman, 1739.
News of Joseph's death was published in the Boston News Letter on January 31, 1765. It stated "On the 14th of Jan. 1765, died at Bridgewater Joseph Pratt, æ. 100 years wanting one month; a man of good character and profession; he had 20 children by his first wife, but none by his second, who still survives him, being about 90 years old."
Joseph died in Bridgewater, Plymouth county, Province of Massachusetts Bay. His will, dated March 13, 1755, names seven of his children.
