Albert L. Chappell, age 91, was reunited with his beloved wife, Betty J. Chappell, in Heaven, on the evening of Thursday, June 24, 2021.

Born in Cottondale, Florida on May 2, 1930, he was raised in Elba, Alabama and attended Elba High School.

Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict.

Albert returned to Elba after his time in the military and worked for Dorsey Trailers. Later, he was employed at Fort Rucker, Alabama, as a sheet metal mechanic, a job which he fell in love with. In 1973, Albert began a Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base, where he absolutely enjoyed his work. He eventually retired in 1995.

In his retirement, Albert grew quite the green thumb and loved gardening; tomatoes were his specialty. He also devoted his later years to being the best grandfather and great-grandfather one could hope for.

Albert was always sure to set a wonderful example for his family as a devout Christian man. He was undeniably passionate in his love for his Savior and enjoyed serving as a longtime member of the First Assembly of God in Warner Robins. The legacy of Albert's love for God and his family will be forever carried in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Semmie and Pearley Britt Williams Chappell; by two brothers; and by two sisters.

Surviving are his loving children, Deborah Mason (Thomas) of Kathleen and Albert Randall Chappell (Lynn) of Perry; grandchildren, Trent Mason (Courtney), Tiffin Bloodworth (Slade) and Tillman Mason (fiancé, Courtney Orr); great-grandchildren, Anna Reese and Thomas Mason, and Merritt Bloodworth; and siblings, Paul Chappell (Paulette) and Troy Chappell, both of Panama City, Florida, Herbert Chappell (Pat) of Jacksonville, Florida, Roy Chappell (Christine) of Dothan, Alabama and Gertrude Smith of Elba, Alabama.

Albert's family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Reverend Richard Asbell officiating. Albert will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens following the service.
