Preston P. Burnett Jr., 76, died May 12, 1994.

He was a native of Cocoa and had been a resident of Fort Pierce for 15 years, coming from Hollywood, Fla., and Island Heights, N.J.

Mr. Burnett was a carpenter. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Fort Pierce; life member of Longhill Fire Department, Catham, N.J.; 50-year member of the New Jersey and Florida Carpenter's Unions; member of Madison Lodge 93, F&AM, Madison, N.J.; Crescent Shrine Temple, Trenton, N.J.; and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Trenton, N.J. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.

He was also a volunteer for the St. Lucie County Historical Museum and UDT Seal Museum, Fort Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elvera D. Burnett of Fort Pierce; two sons, Preston P. Burnett III of Roselle Park, N.J., and Bruce H. Burnett of Cherry Hill, N.J.; two daughters, Suzanne Leidner of Los Angeles and Sherry Natiello of Evergreen, Va.; one brother, Fred Burnett of Orlando; three sisters, Evelyn Drane of Greensboro, Ga., Irene Howard of Rockledge and Mary Adams of Chula Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. W.L. Cooley, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in White City Cemetery.
