Mr. Lemuel Perry Matthews, 92, husband of Christine Seamans Matthews, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in South Boston. Son of the late James Thomas and Julia Hite Matthews, Lemuel was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle where he served as a Deacon. He was retired from Burlington Industries with over 30 years service, and farmed most of his life. In addition to his wife, Mr. Matthews is survived by daughter Peggy Jacobs of Hopewell; son and daughters-in-law, William Perry and Patty Matthews of Buffalo Junction, and Phyllis Blackmon Matthews of Danville; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Patty Fuller Matthews and son, James Benny Matthews.
