Mrs. Mary M'CORD Is Death Victim -
Aged Calhoun Mother Laid At Rest At Bethel —
Was 91 Years of Age.
Mrs. Mary E. McCORD, age 91, passed away on January 4th at the home of her son, Mr. E. L. McCORD. Funeral services were held from the Bethel Baptist church on January 6th, at 11 A. M., conducted by Rev. Will HICKS, assisted by Rev Oliver HOOD and Rev. J. M. SPIKES, followed by interment in the Bethel cemetery. Pallbearers were: Henry SHAW, A. L. WRIGHT, Graves CANNON, W. B. WRIGHT, Lake HOOD and Homer PUTMAN. The Pryor Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
Mrs. McCORD was born Nov. 2, 1851, the daughter of Adam Burris and Sarah FOX-VANCE. She was married to the late John T. McCORD Sept. 22, 1870, who preceded her in death forty-five years. To this union were born nine children.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist church. After her conversion, she lived a consecrated Christian life, attending services as long as her health permitted. She had been in ill health the past nineteen years, having been confined to her bed for six years.
She was a devoted wife, mother and sister, a kind, thoughtful and sympathetic neighbor, and will be sadly missed by her loved ones, relatives and friends.
Surviving are two sons, E. L. McCORD, of Slate Spring, with whom she made her home, and J. E. McCORD, of Slate Spring; a daughter, Mrs. J. C. SHAW, of Leland, and a sister, Miss Theo VANCE, of Slate Spring. Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
