Note: There are two memorials of her husband attached to Rachel. He died in Boston, MA on Feb. 6, 1831, and death records indicate he was buried at Granary in Boston on February 9th, 53 Granary B Gd. Also, on p. 33 of "Gravestone Inscriptions and Records of Tomb Burials in the Granary Burying Ground", dated 1918, states: "BATES, Adna, Feb. 6, 1831, ae. 49 y. Tomb 53." Nothing has been found indicating he had been removed to Cohasset.

Cohasset Central Cemetery records indicate that both Adna and Rachel were buried in Plot 330, owned by Henry Mapes. It also states that he was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, 37th Regiment. As Adna was born in 1781 this is not possible and records indicate it was his father who served in the 37th Regiment, and although not listed in cemetery records, he is listed in "Abtracts of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" as being buried in Central Cemetery, Cohasset.

The Genealogies of the Families of Cohasset Massachusetts, published by the Committee on Town History, 1909, p. 29
Rachel, dau of Seth and Deborah (Lothrop) Briggs, was b. April 28, 1782. She married Adna Bates, date unknown. She died June 10, 1857 in Boston.
