John M. Shaffer was the son of John Frederick & Magdalina "Eichelberger" Shaffer, he married Mary Dolly Smith Feb. 16, 1823 in Perry Co., Alabama, and they had nine children. Dolly "Smith" Shaffer was born Oct. 15, 1805 in S.C., and died Sept. 6, 1846 in Oktibbeha Co., Miss., she was probably buried next to John at New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery. One of their son's was Albert L. Shaffer, born Jan. 31, 1832, and died Mar. 17, 1915. He was also buried here at New Hope, Albert married Sarah E. Alice Ferguson abt. 1854/55 in Choctaw Co., Ms. Albert & Sarah had 7 children, one of their son's was William Albert Shaffer 1861 - 1928, he married Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Williams Jan. 9, 1883 in Webster Co., Ms. They are also buried here, including their oldest dau. Maggie DeLorie "Shaffer" Latham, who married James Edward Latham. They were my Grandparent's!
