Floyd Gilbert Pemberton
70, of Carsonville, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 17, 2021, at his home.
He was born in Port Huron, December 26, 1950, the son of the late Lovell and Vera (Barnes) Pemberton.
His marriage to Diannalynn Spencer was May 17, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Port Huron.
Floyd attended Port Huron Catholic School. He and his wife lived in Yale for 21 years where he served on the Yale Fire Department for several years and was a member of the Yale Lions Club. The couple moved to Carsonville in 1996. Floyd was an autobody mechanic for many years before he semi-retired in 2000. He then continued employment as a bus driver for Deckerville and Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools.
Floyd enjoyed yardwork and restoring older cars to their original glory. He liked bowling and baseball, camping with bonfires, playing card games and horseshoes, and target shooting.
Floyd loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially time spent at the grandchildren's sporting events, helping them with projects and time around the fire pit and working on cars. He always reminisced of fond memories of his brothers and sister while growing up. Floyd had a large family and was close to all, including his many nieces and nephews.
Surviving in addition to Diannalynn, his wife of 52 years, are three children, Mark (Sharon) Pemberton of Yale, Danelle (Ron) Blinke of Marine City, and Thomas (Alison) Pemberton of Jeddo; four grandchildren, Alicia, Kayley, Jared, and Jacob; two brothers, Bill (Flo) Pemberton of Big Rapids and Keith (Jackie) Pemberton of Flint; a sister-in-law, Toni Pemberton; adopted son and special friends, Jeff Tarzwell and Matt Smith as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by five brothers, Bob, Jim, Bud, David and Darcey (infancy) Pemberton, and sister, Christine Gillett.
The family honors the memory of Floyd and invites you to visit and share memories Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with a Fireman's Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with 10:00 a.m. visiting.
