Born Sept. 25, 1924, in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Frank and Antoinette Wanielista Bonk.
A veteran of World War II, Adam served his country with the U.S. Army in the European Theater of operations and was honorably discharged on Jan. 30, 1946.
He married the former, Margaret Kmetz on Oct. 29, 1949, at St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Church, Nanticoke. They shared 66 years of marriage until her passing on June 16, 2016.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Bonk was a general contractor in the area for many years.
He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and formerly St. Joseph's Slovak Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of Hanover Hose Company 4, Hanover section of Nanticoke. Earlier in life, he was active in scouting and was Cub Scout Master with the troop in Hanover section.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Bonk, Blanche Belawicz, Mary Sutt, Stella Bartchak, Josephine Cichy and Sophie Cease; and brothers, John and Edward Bonk.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Marie Bonk, Riva, Md.; grandsons, Robert Bonk and his fiancée, Jessica Keyton, Louisa, Va.; and Richard Bonk and his wife, Jennifer, Nanticoke; great-grandchildren, Adam, Christian and Kaylee Bonk; sisters, Tozia Yaniga and Amelia Cholewa; sister-in-law, Teresa Bonk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalksa Parish, primary site, 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. James R. Nash, his pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Slovak Cemetery, Nanticoke.
Friends and family may call for viewing and visitation hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
