MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Marlene Sue Smith, 83, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday June 17, 2021, at her home.
Born in St. Louis June 9, 1938, she was the daughter of Robert B. and Emma Bertha Wittenbrock Brown.
Marlene worked for Brown Shoe Co. in Clayton, Missouri, doing clerical work. While at Brown, she met Dale O. Smith. They married in June 1980. In 1982, they moved to work for Brown Shoe in Benton, Missouri.
For 25 years they resided in Cape Girardeau. Marlene also worked for 15 years with Walmart in Cape Girardeau. In 2007, they moved to Bollinger County. Dale preceded her in death July 1, 2020.
She was a member of Point Pleasant Church near Marble Hill.
Marlene is survived by sons, Steve (Carol) Mangrum of Eureka, Missouri, Daniel (Kristy) Mangrum of Rosebud, Missouri, and Jeffrey (Donna) Mangrum of Jackson; stepson, Steven O. (Kathleen) Smith, and stepdaughter, Sheila Smith, both of Gainesville, Florida; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
A memorial service will be held at a date. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
