Bruce Watson was born in White County, Arkansas to Zacharia Watson and Mary Jane Owens. He grew up in the Indian Territory and moved to Tahoka, Lynn County, Texas, in 1913, where he farmed cotton. He married Lillian Alvina Bartley in Tahoka on April 23, 1914. They had 6 children together: Leon "Buck" Watson, Anne Marie Watson, Thomas Clifton Watson, George Earnest Watson, Abraham Lincoln Watson, and Cleveland Bruce Watson (born shortly after father died according to his only child). He passed on August 23, 1921, after an operation at a Lubbock hospital at the age of 33.
