LINCOLN— Jake C. Buttell, 83, of Elkhart, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. He had farmed more than 40 years in the Elkhart community.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church in Elkhart, with the Rev. Eugene Kane officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery near Lincoln.
Visitation will be at Kerrigan Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
He was born in Logan County, May 29, 1888, a son of Jacob and Bena Wachter Buttell. He married Margaret Hanahan Feb. 10, 1915 at Elkhart.
She survives with a son, Jacob C. Buttell, Elkhart; a daughter, Mrs. William Heinzel, Middletown; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Beutel served as road commissioner of Elkhart Township three terms and for many years was chairman of the Elkhart Red Cross committee. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Elkhart. [Pantagraph (Bloomington, IL). Thurs. Oct. 28, 1971. p. D-8, col. 5]
