Judith "Judy" A. Tannehill, 75, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her home in Newman Grove, NE.

Judith Annette Rose Tannehill, daughter of Joseph C. and Frances D. (Gaughan) Swiler, was born on December 15, 1945, in San Diego, CA. The family moved to Wichita, KS, in 1948. Judy loved God from a very young age. She attended school at Blessed Sacrament through the 8th grade, spent two years at St. Mary's High School, then graduated from Wichita East in 1963. She attended Chanute Jr. College in Chanute, KS. Following college, Judy moved to Denver, CO, where she worked as an executive secretary for an insurance agency. She loved to cruise around in her yellow Volkswagen convertible, long hair flying, and music playing. She had a lot of friends and was a free and loving spirit. She met a hippie guy named Jim Tannehill, who would hang around the insurance agency waiting to see her.

The couple was married in 1975 in Denver, CO. The following year, their daughter Jessica Rose was born. A few years later, they welcomed a son, James Matthew. Jim and Judy moved to Nebraska and got a taste of country living, so much so that Jim delivered their next two children, Sarah Lu Frances, and Joseph Peter, at their home. The family made a plethora of memories in Crete, NE. They went their separate ways in 1996, but the couple remained great friends. Judy moved to Columbus, NE, where she nurtured her heart of service in her employment. In 2003, Judy moved to Newman Grove, NE, and became a member of the Fellowship Bible Church. She continued her life of service as a cook at the nursing home and school, then cleaning for the city and the local bank. Judy treasured time spent with friends, family, and her pets, and loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed being outside in the sun and tending to her gardens. She adored the community she called home, and the community adored her in return. A selfless mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, we will hold her in our hearts for all eternity.

Judy is survived by her four children: Jessie (fiancé Frankie Mossa) Tannehill of Omaha, NE; James "Matt" Tannehill of Albion, NE; Sarah Lu Tannehill of Centennial, CO; Joseph (fiancée Heidi Reinpold) Tannehill of Battle Creek, NE; beloved friend Jim Tannehill of Newman Grove, NE; 10 grandchildren: Wesley, Timothy, Emilee, Benjamin, Christopher, Daniel, Eli, Ian, Joshua, and Zoey; two sisters: Joan Burns of Redding, CA; Janet Lauer of Eureka Springs, AR; two brothers: Jim Swiler of Silver City, NM; John Swiler of Wichita, KS; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her cherished cousin, Bobbie Leverich.
