Arleen Leona Buchanan was born in Deadwood, SD on January 7, 1961 to Helen and Wilbur Long of Newell, SD. Arleen attended schools in Newell SD, Belle Fourche SD, Vancouver, WA, and Derby, CT. Arleen graduated in 1979 from Derby High School in Derby, CT. Arleen attended the University of New Haven to pursue a degree in computers.

Arleen was married in June of 1983 and had one son. Arleen was the family historian and did the genealogy, amassing vast amounts of info. She also was very crafty and loved making everything from birdhouses to refrigerator magnets and everything in between. Arleen loved her family functions and would never miss one.

Arleen had juvenile diabetes from the age of 16. It was a struggle for her, but it never diminished her wanting to help anyone, anytime. Arleen died on November 13, 2017 in New Haven, CT.

Left to cherish her memory is her son; her 2 grandsons ; her two sisters; brother; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arleen was preceded in death by her parents and both her maternal and paternal grandparents. After Arleen's passing, her sisters, Sandra Lewis and Vivian Schmidt went to be with her.

Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Newell, SD.
