David Winstead Addicott, 78, joined his best friend, Douglas Little in a heavenly motorcycle ride Sunday, March 15, 2020, after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Dave was born Feb. 17, 1942, to Ralph O. and Mattie B. Winstead Addicott of Bristolville. He graduated from Bristolville High School in 1960 and attended vocational school in St. Louis, Mo. He had a long and fulfilling career in automotive repair, and was given the honorary nickname of a "mechanic's mechanic," as there was no automotive problem he could not solve.

Dave also rode with the Zodiac Riders motorcycle club and took his kids on many motorcycle rides over the years. Dave was also especially fond of popcorn, Ohio State, the movie a "Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," motorcycles and was an avid fan of all activities his grandchildren participated in. And he spoiled his dog, Basil.

Dave was a beloved brother, father, grandpa and most recently, great-grandpa, although he said he was always a "great" grandpa. His greatest joy in life was supporting his family, and his favorite activities included fishing, going out to eat, building a fire, gardening and he also was a professional back-yard birdwatcher.

He will be missed by his three children, Stephanie (Bobby) Hutchins, Mattie Addicott and Michael (Joedi) Addicott; and his 11 grandchildren, Jade, Bobby, Trent, Samantha, Desiree, Amanda, Emily, Kailey, Donald, Allen and Nate and the many he considered grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with another on the way; sister, Patricia Sullivan and brother, Edward (Gaye) Addicott; and two nephews, Lee (Karen) Robertson and David R. Addicott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Charlotte Renee; a brother-in-law, Jack Sullivan; and a sister-in-law, Clara Addicott.

Dave donated his body to Northeastern Ohio Medical University in an effort to "give back."

In lieu of flowers, please donate to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Hospital.

Due to the restaurant closings at this time, his memorial will be held at a later date.
