Jane R. Stinson, born Catherine Jane Reid on September 18, 1924, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on February 2, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Guren E. Stinson, her daughter Pamela Stinson-Tattersall (Richard Tattersall) and her daughter Stephanie J. Stinson. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Marshal Stinson.

Born in the Panhandle of Texas in Follett to Ronie and Earnest Reid, she spent her early years excelling in basketball and band and living through the "dirty thirties" when the dust bowl hit the middle of the country. The town she grew up in was so small that when she was born, she was delivered in her home where the town doctor was a border.

She could have married and stayed in the Texas Panhandle, but she credits her mother Ronie Reid with giving her the incentive to travel to Wichita Falls to attend Secretarial School after she graduated from high school. After her schooling, the attack on Pearl Harbor and the entry of the United States into WWII led this 19 year old from Texas to board a train to the California coast to assume her duties at Oakland Air Field. This was the beginning of a lifelong adventure when she met a dashing young Army Air Corps Lt. named Guren Stinson.

She traveled across the United States, lived in 10 different states, Japan and Germany and introduced her 3 children to the variety and spice of life. She was a strong advocate for her children and husband.

In 1995 she began another dream of being a small business owner when she, Guren and son Kevin opened the Ponderosa Forest RV Park and Campground in Parks, Arizona. One could say she was the brains behind the dream as she and Guren reopened the park with the help of their son Kevin.

Jane made many friends of the guests who would come back every year to the park or those who used the park as a home base while they built a new home in Parks. She enjoyed helping others and she will be missed by her friends, acquaintances and her family.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 17th in the afternoon.
