Anne Ballard Walton Stone, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 10, 2015, surrounded by the love of her children. She was born to the late Ballard Smith Walton and Alliene Pettway Walton. She was the youngest sister of three and is predeceased by her oldest sister, Grace Bowen.
She was a graduate of Maury High School, class of 1955 and worked at the Virginian Pilot/Ledger Star until 1958, where she met and married Leon S.Stone. They were married for 42 years before his departure to be with the Lord in 2000. Through the years, Anne was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, Talbot Park Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Norfolk. Anne was driven by her strong faith in God, always looking for opportunities to witness to others. She devoted her life to her Savior, family, and friends.
She is survived by her four children, Brenda L. Stone, David B. Stone, Donna M. Mantos, Katherine A. Hutchens and her husband, Steve; Three grandchildren, Krystal Cruz, Jayme Mantos, and Trenton Stone; One sister, Kitty Keller; and numerous relatives and friends that will miss her very much.
A celebration of life service will be held at Talbot Park Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA on June 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Chaplain James Hoy officiating. Following the service, a further time of remembrance will be held in the fellowship hall. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support during this time.
