Aviation Pioneer. Major Robertson was a co-founder of Lambert-St. Louis Municipal Airport. He was the first pilot to land on the field and was one of the backers of Charles Lindbergh's 1927 flight to Paris. Along with his brother Frank, he organized the Robertson Aircraft Corporation in 1920. Robertson enlisted in the aviation branch of the army during World War II, was later commissioned a second lieutenant and was honorably discharged with the rating of military airplane pilot in the U.S. Army Corps Reserve. He was killed during a glider demonstration flight at Lambert Field in St. Louis, Missouri.
