Rose Ella McGathey, 95, of Columbus, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her residence. She was born July 19, 1920 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Hiram and Minnie M. (Hostetter) Forrest. She was the widow of the late John McGathey and first husband Herbert Ackison.

She was a homemaker and member of Coonville Holiness Mission. She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.

Rose is survived by son, Hobart (Reba) Ackison of Nelsonville; daughter, Gloria Snider of the residence; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents; sons, Herbert Ackison Jr. and Raymond "Ray" Ackison; and brother, John Elmer Forrest.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 14 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Rev. Jim Mathias officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call from 11:00 AM, until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908 in her memory.
