He was the son of Gordon B. Ridgeway and Margaret Carlock Ridgeway.
In 1969, he graduated from the University of Washington with a Civil Engineering degree. He was passionate about UW Husky Football. After graduation he married in June 1969. For four years he served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Germany and the United States. Later, he worked as a Civil Engineer and a Senior Construction Project Manager. His employers included GLY Construction, ERA Living and Boeing. He was also interested in family history and was a story teller with a witty humor. Survivors included his wife, two children, two grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
