Shelby Jean Graham Nicholson, 83, entered into Heaven on Friday, June 4, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side. Shelby was born in Royston, Georgia on August 25, 1937 and is the daughter of the late Clifford and Dorothy Sorrells Graham. Shelby was a graduate of Belmont High School. She was the former Co-Owner with her beloved husband, Hughlon, and John and Patricia Graham of Graham's Fish Fry. She was the sweetest and most loving lady that ever walked on this earth. She always had the sweetest smile for everyone, family, friend or stranger. Shelby was loved greatly by her parents, husband, brother, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will truly be missed by so many. The family sends their sincerest thanks and love to Shelby's caregiver, Robin Bowen, and to Gaston Hospice, especially Ashley and Gretchen whose kindness and compassion were so appreciated. Hughlon's unfailing dedication in caring for Shelby over the years has demonstrated his love for her and set a perfect example of the true meaning of marriage and family. Shelby leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 65 years, Hughlon Nicholson; three loving daughters, Karen Warren (Ronnie), Janet Terry (Mike), Kris Simonds (Andrew); loving son, Ken Nicholson (Jennifer) and loving bonus son, Chris Wooten; sister-in-law, Patricia Graham; seven grandchildren whom adored Shelby, Paige Rhinehart (Charley), Brooke Warren, Austen Gantt (Devin), Ashley Rudisill (Ben), Lydia Nicholson, Aaron Simonds, Karley Simonds; great grandchildren whom adored Shelby, Will Rhinehart, Peyton Rhinehart, Caleb Payseur, Lexi Mathis, Colby Gantt, Houston Rudisill, Preston Rudisill, Reagan Rudisill; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Union Road Church, 2315 Union Road. Gastonia, North Carolina with a Celebration Of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Union Road Church with Pastor Lee Claypoole officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the John Section with the Releasing of the Doves. Shelby was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jay Simonds; brother, John Graham. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Cardinal Outreach Program, (In memory of Jay Simonds), c/o Union Road Church, 2315 Union Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
