Spc. Angel Acosta Koteen, 41, of Yuma, AZ left us on June 6th, 2021. Born in Yuma, AZ on April 4th 1980.

He was a decorated veteran who served in Afghanistan with special forces.

He was the son of Lolita Koteen Rodriguez of Yuma, AZ and Ramon Acosta of San Luis, AZ.

After serving in Afghanistan with the Army, Angel decided to leave the army after 4 years. After he spent his career working for the Quechan Indian Tribe as Water/Waste Utility Operator.

Angel will always be remembered for the love he had for his kids. He cherished being a father and loved to spend time with them. He loved to barbecue. He loved to travel. He was known for his sense of humor, he loved to share memes, and roast whoever to make them laugh. He was proud that his sons and nephew followed one of his proudest accomplishments of serving in the military. He loved his Quechan Indian culture by dancing, singing, and learning about the tribe.

He is preceded in death by his Grandfather, William R. Koteen, Grandmothers, Rosita Carr, Julia Carr Koteen and Gloria Acosta Perez.

Angel is survived by his children, Angel, Anthony, Amaya, Alexis, Lolita, Santana, Nino, and Kash Koteen. His mother, Lolita Koteen Rodriguez, Father, Ramon Acosta, Brothers; Ramon Acosta Jr, Omar Acosta, Sebastian Cruz. Sisters; Diana Acosta, Lala Acosta (Heriberto), Gloria Acosta, Lacey Acosta, Berenice Acosta, Reina Cruz. He is survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, great nephew.

Services will be held at Yuma Mortuary, 775 S. 5th Ave, Yuma, AZ on Friday, June 18th, 2021, at 3pm- 5pm. Tribal Rites will follow at the Quechan Big house, 1877 Picacho Road, Winterhaven, CA on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at 12am on the Quechan Reservation. Cremation will be held on June 19th, 2021 at 5am.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Douglas, Omar Acosta, Manny Villa, Cecilio Estrada, Dushane Mills, Billy Rea, Randall Moody, Emilio Koteen, Jr., Johnathan Koteen, Alejandro Herrera, Richard Herrera, Enrique Ramirez, and Matthew Juan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ramon Acosta, Ramon Acosta Jr, Angel Koteen, Anthony Koteen, William Koteen, Sebastian Cruz, Emilio Koteen Sr., Quentin Escalanti, Claude Thunderclaude, Heriberto Ramos, Hector Perez, Jessie Perez, and Virgilio Perez.
