SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Kaye Patricia "Patsy" Andrews Kaney, 77, passed away on February 8th, 2016, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with Huntington's disease.
Patsy was born in Screven County on October 8th, 1938, to the late Claywood Harlow "Red" Andrews Sr. and the late Bonnie Jenkins Andrews, who raised her to live her life by "The Golden Rule." She is also predeceased by her brother, Claywood Harlow "BoBo" Andrews Jr.
In 1955, she married "the only man she ever loved," Colyon Stewart "C.S." Kaney, with whom she raised a family during their 61 years of marriage. Patsy adored her family and she loved the Lord. She was a devoted wife and cherished mom and Nana.
Patsy is survived by her husband, C.S.; daughters, Kay Kaney Rule (John) and Colleen Kaney Smith (Dr. Sidney); five grandchildren, Candice Rogers (Mitch), Haley Simmons (Wes), Bo Ballance (Gabby), Kaney Ballance (fiance, Wills Smith) and Gracie Smith; two great-grandchildren, Taos Rogers and Marylee Simmons; and one additional great-grandbaby on its way.
Together, C.S. and Patsy enjoyed many years of charitable service to the community. Among her many recognitions and leadership positions, Patsy was a past president and former secretary of the Southeast Regional State of Georgia Christian Women's Fellowship. During her professional career, she served as an executive secretary of Continental Forest Industries.
A woman of faith, Patsy served as an elder and former chairman of the board for First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. As the wife of a past potentate of Alee Temple Shrine, Patsy spent many of her favorite moments with the Ladies' Auxiliary group and she especially cherished her friendships made in the Alee Shriners Temple.
Patsy was a fierce competitor and loved sports, even playing into her adult years for recreational softball and volleyball leagues. She was an avid and loyal Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. Posting an impressive attendance record at her grandchildren's sporting events, she was diligent in her ability to correct the calls of the referees. She was a much loved Nana.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
