Donald K. Bonewitz

Donald K. Bonewitz, 91, Roanoke, died at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2007) at Covington Manor in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Bonewitz farmed north of Roanoke most of his life and was primarily involved in dairy production. He was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, Roanoke, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
He was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Huntington, to Harry and Hattie Krieg Bonewitz. He married Maribel Phebus on Aug. 29, 1948. She died March 31, 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis P. Bonewitz and Steven D. Bonewitz, both of Roanoke; a daughter, Malinda Jane Meyer of New Haven; a sister, Ruth Redman of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Bonewitz and Bob Bonewitz; two stepsisters, Mary Jane Coe and Marguerite Payton; and his stepmother, Hazel Payton.
Calling is from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Jones officiating.
Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
