Robert Milton Copeland, son of William Duncan Copeland and Mary Evelyn Stannard, was born September 23, 1938 in Lincoln, Illinois. He passed away suddenly on April 17, 2021 in Fort Collins, CO from complications of lung cancer.

He had a B.A. from Carleton College, Minn., M.A. in Library Sciences from the University of Minnesota and an M.A. (History) from Colorado State University. He served from 1961-1966 in the Army-National Guard.

He was Library Director at Colorado College, 1964-1968, Associate University Librarian at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, 1968-1976, and retired from the Fort Collins Public Library, as Head, Reference and Adult Services Librarian after serving 15 years.

Bob greatly valued volunteer work and after retirement his activities included reading and recording for the blind students at CSU, driving for Senior Alternative Transportation (SAINT) for 12 years, Poudre Wilderness Volunteers, and time at the Food Bank for Larimer County. He was also a member of "Find a Grave" for 8 years where volunteers help to locate and photograph graves of family members. He added more than 6,000 photos and memorials to their online website.

Bob's hobbies included travel, running and hiking. Hiking in his beloved Rocky Mountains was a favorite activity as well as travelling widely in the U.S. and Europe. While in Lebanon, he especially enjoyed exploring the ancient ruins.

Bob had a sharp mind and a great memory. He loved puns and could recite poems from memory. He had a great sense of humor and loved POGO. He had a good voice, loved music and played the clarinet. He was thoughtful and full of jokes. He was knowledgeable and helpful and enjoyed finding answers for people.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Nora (nee Shirajian); his son Jonathan Copeland, Johnathan's mother, Julia Wallace, Jonathan's wife, Rebecca, and [2] grandchildren , several nephews and nieces and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his brother.

The family would like to thank UC Health PVH Medical staff for the excellent care they gave to Bob.
