Calvin (Cal) Aaron moved from this life to his forever Home on June 3, 2021. A few weeks later, on July 19, unable to stay here without the love of her life, his wife, Nelda Joy Aaron, jumped straight into Jesus' arms. What God had joined for 66 years was together again.

Cal was born June 30, 1935 in a small town called Wellington deep in the panhandle of Texas to Ruth and JD Aaron. About six months later that same year, on Christmas Day in the same town, W.O. (Pete) and Addie Scott welcomed Nelda Joy, their only daughter, into the world.

Cal was the oldest child of three children and the only boy. His dad died suddenly at age 35 when Cal was 15, sister JoAnn was 14, and baby sister Mary Beth was only 5. His mom never remarried and worked three jobs to raise the family. Cal got a hardship drivers license at 15 so he could drive a cattle truck to help financially. He loved country music and his singing talent was well known.

Cal graduated from Wellington High School in 1953 and joined the US Army, then hurried home on his first leave to propose to his high school sweetheart, Nelda Joy Scott. They married in October, 1954, after she graduated. Cal went to jump school and became a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne also known as The Angels. The only time he convinced Nelda to watch him jump from a plane, his chute failed to open completely and he survived with a bad back injury that would haunt him a long time. Cal planned to make the Army his career and was accepted to flight school, but his mother convinced him to change those plans. She told him he could not take Nelda across the world from her parents because she was all they had left. They had lost five sons (one recently) and she was their only surviving child. Cal agreed.

After leaving the Army, Cal became a police officer in Amarillo and Lubbock. Their family had grown and Nel dedicated herself to raising their three children - Debi, Kim, and Scott. After Cal's partner was killed in the line of duty, he left the police force, moved to Dallas, and entered the insurance business. Promotions moved the family to Atlanta, Georgia for a year and then back to Dallas. During this time, Cal was spotted by a modeling agent and agreed to do some magazine and newspaper ads and some tv commercials for a little extra income.

In 1972 Cal and Nel moved the family to Wichita Falls to start their own business. Cal retired in 2018. They enjoyed traveling with a motor home club for many years until they settled in Salado, TX. They are survived by their two daughters, Debi Rawlings and husband Bruce of Salado, TX, Kim Scribner and husband Jeff of Healdton, OK, and their son, Scott Aaron of Hallsville, TX. They were also blessed with 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many wonderful loving friends and family members.

A memorial service for both Cal and Nel will be held at Edgemere Church of Christ in Wichita Falls at 2:00 on Saturday, July 31, 2021. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Oak Creek Academy
