"Albert Lee Osborn...His father and mother came to Tennessee from North Carolina and settled in Bedford County, now Marshall County. His mother died in TN when he was only eight years old. In 1847 his father moved to Alabama and settled on Big Bear Creek where they continued to make their home after he married Mary Gober, daughter of Jim and Nancy Gober on March 28, 1858 [in Franklin County, AL]. Mary died Dec 7, 1871 and on Jan 07, 1872 he married Mary's sister, Mrs.Texanna Flake, widow of Jim Flake. His second wife died Feb 05, 1903. Both of his wives were the daughters of Jim and Nancy Gober. Albert Lee's father was John Osborn and he died in 1884 [actually 1874] and is buried in Osborn's Chapel, the family graveyard , near the old homestead. This is near present day [Old]Burleson, in Franklin County. With his first wife Albert Lee had six children and had ten children with his second wife..." from the book entitled 'The Heritage of Franklin County, Alabama' page 222 as submitted by: Lonie Massey Newton of Vina, AL.
Lonie Newton also states that Albert was a postmaster and mail carrier for 16 years; a chief deputy sheriff; and businessman. Albert was a devout Methodist, and a licensed "magnetic healer".
NOTE: When we visited the Osborn Family Cemetery on Oct. 02, 2006, the Albert Lee Osborn homestead, which adjoins the cemetery, was in a state of ruin. It's so sad that a once proud and beautiful home filled with the sounds of family chatter and laughter was abandoned to the whims of wind and weather.
