Myrtha accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and was united with Canaan Baptist Church where she served as a cook, member of the choir, and served on the mother's board.
In 1940, Myrtha Pearl Smith was united in holy matrimony with Robert Beddie Johnson in Leake County, MS. Their union was blessed with eight children.
She was a housekeeper and a caregiver for over 40 years. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, cleaning, canning, and going to the farm and picking vegetables. She also enjoyed country music (Grand Ole Opry), watching Christian television, and Family Feud. Myrtha loved visiting with family, friends, and especially her grand-babies. She loved to pray and talk to her heavenly Father up until the very end.
Myrtha Pearl Johnson departed this life on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert B. Johnson; father, Sullivan P. Smith; mother, Sarah Smith; brothers, Arthur and Emzy Smith; sisters, Evelena and Lillie B. Smith; children, Robert, Walter, Harold, Dwight, and Myrtha Carol; granddaughter, Sesalie Dixon; and grandson, Jeremiah Ware.
She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Sarah (Phillip) Hunter, Stanley Johnson, and Marjorie Jones; grandchildren, Monica (¥)chael) Adams, Crystal Montgomery, Robert Johnson, [r., Tracey Johnson, Tony (Chearlene) Johnson, Dominique (Delores) Martin, Richard (Sherlie) Johnson, Alexander (Jennifer) Johnson, Neal Johnson, Torrie Martin, Antoinette (Steve) Moss, Rhonda Darrett, Marcus (Sheila) Crumble, James Crumble, George (Lorri) Thompson, Courtney (VonDerrick) Johnson-Kennedy, Stephanie Johnson, Stanley Lewis, Laverne Ware, [r., Tyrone Johnson, and Lisa Johnson; over 40 great grandchildren; over 25 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
