Flavious D. Mauer, 80, of Bloomville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1926, in the Town of Meredith, the son of Louis and Nancy A. (Davis) Mauer.
He married Dorothy on July 13, 1957. During his life, he lived on the family farm, working for Sheffield Creamery in Bloomville and Hobart, and Dairyman League in South Kortright, hauling milk using horses and wagon. He also hauled hay for other local farmers.
A lot of locals knew him mostly for his junk yard and would come to him to buy parts at low prices.
He took over the family farm in 1977 after his father passed. His main goal in his life was to reunite the main Mauer farm with the Davis farm where his mother was born. He accomplished this two years ago. He loved going to livestock auctions. His favorite type of cow was the Guernsey.
He also had a dog named Daisy that was like a daughter to him.
He was a member of Bloomville Grange, the Bloomville United Methodist Church and Guernsey Breeding Association.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Bloomville; a son, Peter and his wife, Carrie, Bloomville; a brother, Floyd Mauer, Maryland; grandchildren, Autumn Mauer and Emily Post; and stepgranddaughter, Rose Rousell.
Calling hours will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at the Bloomville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Lenz officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.
