Victor Walter Christensen, age 94, passed away at the Veteran"s Hospital in Minneapolis on February 23, 2013 as the result of complications from a fractured hip.

He was born November 18, 1918 in rural Sleepy Eye to Christian and Emily (Petersen) Christensen.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew"s Church in Evan. He attended country schools in the Sleepy Eye/Evan area. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1943. After his discharge he farmed with his father-in-law and then began a 30 year career with the Minnesota Highway Department.

Victor married Nathalie Guhlke and to this union four children were born, Virginia, Madalynn, Douglas and Jeffrey. They later divorced and he married Dorothy Beltz in 1978 and added seven step children to his family circle. Vic was a walking book of knowledge, enjoyed wildlife, fishing, daily trips to Sleepy Eye Lake, bus tours, crossword puzzles and family visits. He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his devoted care giver, 3 children, Madalynn Ronning, Douglas Christensen, Jeffrey (Doreen) Christensen, 7 step children, Steven (Rita) Beltz, Richard (Nancy) Beltz, Cheryl (Dave) Peterson, Scott (Deb) Beltz, Dan (Sheila) Beltz, Kris (Dan) Tauer, Jody (Vicki) Beltz, 28 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Elaine Ladd, Carrie Schenk, Jens Christensen, daughter, Virginia Wilkerson, son-in-laws, Jim Ronning and Lloyd Wilkerson, great grandchild, Jardyn and grandchild, Nathan.
