Reuben Harvon Nixon was born at home on July 15, 1923 in the small community of West Sandy, Walker County, Texas to Thomas and Eura Ellington Nixon. He was the fifth child of the twelve children born in this family.

He attended school in West Sandy through the 8th grade. This was during the depression and in 1939 he had to leave school to help his father on the farm. But, even though he never graduated from high school he advanced to district area superintendent for the whole Gulf Coast for Erbauer Construction.

He entered service the day after he turned 18 years old in 1941. He is listed on his service records as a truck driver and served most of WWII in Iceland.

On March 13,1947 he married Thelma Odessa Morrow. They had two children. In about 1954, they divorced. In about 1958, Reuben married Peggy Louise Wade. There were no children from this marriage. They lived in and around the Houston area as long as he was working.

When he retired because of his heart problems, they moved back to Walker County close to Lake Conroe.

He died at the hospital in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas from a tumor that was on the outside of his lungs.
