August Henry Mass was only son of August N. W. Maass and Helena Schumacher. He married Dora M. Werner in 1912 and they had two daughters. August was a carpenter by trade. He took ill and died in March 1920 of the "Spanish Flu" pandemic, 18 days after his sister died of same illness.
