LaTressa Vanderpool Moore, age 103, died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Galena, Kan., following an illness. Mrs. Moore was born Sept. 6, 1903, in Galena. Her parents were Albert R. and Rosa Belle (Swank) Sigler. She was a lifetime resident of Galena. LaTressa was a graduate of Kansas State College, of Pittsburg, with a bachelor of education degree. She was a school teacher in Kansas and Missouri for 20 years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena. She was also a member of the Alumni Association of Kansas State College, of Pittsburg; the Missouri Sheriffs Association; and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was married to Melville N. "Joe" Vanderpool on June 14, 1924, in Joplin, Mo. He died Oct. 19, 1945. She then married E.C. Moore in 1950. He died in 1961. Surviving are three daughters, Wanda N. Dougan, Springfield, Mo., Norma C. Wilkinson, Anchorage, Alaska, and Beulah Rose Hall, Riverton, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gerald E. Vanderpool; and two sisters, Rosa G. Armstrong and Lily F. Casteel.The body has been taken for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Rev. Howard Whitely will officiate. (The Joplin Globe, Joplin, MO, 3-21-2007)
