Terry Michael Pennell, 56, passed away at 10:33 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Terry was born Oct. 12, 1953, in Eldorado, the son of Thurman E. (Jarg) and Veldene D. (Dutton) Pennell. He married Glenda J. Jearlds on Aug. 8, 1981, in Carbondale. She survives in Marion.
Mr. Pennell was a member of Community Chapel Church of Marion. He worked maintenance at Southern Illinois Healthcare from 1981 to 1984. Terry loved spending time with his granddaughter and was very interested in trucks. He enjoyed doing word searches and watching cooking shows, even though he didn't cook.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda J. Pennell of Marion; son, Robert Michael and Jennifer Pennell of Marion; granddaughter, Katie Pennell of Marion; mother, Veldene Pennell-Jerrels of Cave-In-Rock; mother-in-law, Midge Jearlds of Marion; and two brothers, Larry and Janice Pennell of Mount Carmel, Stan and Nancy Pennell of Cave-In-Rock; three nieces, Jennifer Pennell and Lisa Rice of North Carolina, and Lindsey Pennell of Cave-In-Rock; stepsister, Ramona and John Douglas of Columbus, Ohio; three stepbrothers, Joe and Sandy Jerrels of Cave-In-Rock, Bob and Debbie Jerrels of O'Fallon, and Bill and Elaine Jerrels of Harrisburg; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thurman "Jarg" Pennell; stepfather, Esdon Jerrels; his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Aseugene "Asie" Jearlds.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with Tim Jearlds and Stanley Pennell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at the funeral home.
