Mrs. Michael Rowan, aged 69 years, 4 months and 3 days, died at her home in Rose township Monday morning at 12:40 o'clock, of heart trouble. She had been in failing health for the past five years and her death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Rowan was born in Center County on November 19, 1858, a daughter of Patrick and Mary Ellen (Gilfoyle) O'Loughlin. In 1860 the family moved to Jefferson County, locating in Beaver Township. In 1869 they moved to Brookville where the deceased has since continuously resided. She was united in marriage June 29, 1880, to Mr. Rowan, of Reynoldsville, the ceremony being performed by Rev. H.C. Weinker. To them were born fourteen children, twelve of whom with Mr. Rowan survive. Surviving children are: James, Colman, Martin, of Brookville; Rev. Thomas A., Tulsa, Okla.; Vincent, Philip, Maurice, Mary, wife of A.C. Carr; Clair, wife of B.E. Henry, all of Brookville; Nettie, wife of Harry Arnold, of Elmira, N.Y.; Katie and Veronica, at home. She is also survived by thirty-two grandchildren and one brother, C.P. O'Loughlin, of Brookville.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, of which Mrs. Rowan was a member. The services were in charge of Rev. F.J. Wagner. assisted by Rev. Joseph Daugherty, O.S.A., of Villa Nova; Rev. Thomas A. Rowan, O.S.A., of Tulsa, Okla., a son; Rev. Albert C. O'Loughlin, O.S.A., of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., a nephew; and Rev. Daniel Fitzpatrick, of Reynoldsville. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were James C., Thomas J., and Edmund Nyland, Abel O. Sterck, Albert Adams and Joseph Burkhardt.
