Obituary – Mrs. Martha Whitaker

Mrs. Martha Ellen Whitaker, 87, formerly of near Salineville, died today at 12:30 a.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora Snook, Minerva, following a stroke.
Mrs. Whitaker spent most of her lifetime near Salineville, residing with Mrs. Snook for the past year and a half. She was the last of a family of 18 children. She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church near Highlandtown.
She leaves three other daughters, Mrs. Alice McCormick of Minerva, Mrs. Flora Shafer of East Palestine, and Mrs. Ethel Rose of Hammondsville R D, three sons, John J. Whitaker of Wellsville, Lewis Whitaker of Salineville R D, and George Whitaker of Wellsville R D, and 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Another son and a daughter preceded her in death.
The body was taken to the Gotchall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and will be taken to the Snook home Saturday afternoon. Rites will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Highlandtown Methodist Church by Rev. William Clague of Minerva. Burial will be in Highlandtown Cemetery.
Friends may call a the Snook home, 500 East St. Saturday or at the church Sunday after 1:30 p.m.
