In 1971 she was selected as Who's Who among college and university students and graduated that same year, suma cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Prairie View A&M University. In 1975 she graduated with honors from the University of Houston with a master's degree in Public Administration and in 1979 earned a Doctorate of Philosophy from Oklahoma State University.
As an educator, she was also involved in various social community-based programs. Those most dear to her were lifetime Legacy members of the Delta Sigma Theta Prairie View A&M chapter and Family and Consumer Sciences Association. Her need to support others through charitable contributions included The Program, St. Jude Hospital, USO of America, The Salvation Army and the West Texas Food Bank. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors are one sister, Sheridan L. Anderson of Big Spring, TX; aunts, Julia Anna "Kismet" Rodgers of Tucson, AZ, and Ski Anderson of Newport, RI; nephew and spouse, Thomas D. and Lillie Rorie of Temple, TX; niece, Dr. Michelle Y. Rorie of Nashville, TN; a host of cousins and friends.
Dr. Delilia Lorraine Anderson Diggs, 72, of Big Spring, TX., passed away on May 16, 2021, in Midland, TX. Visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2021, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Wake from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Branford/Dawson Funeral Home, Temple, TX. Funeral Service to be held Saturday, May 29, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Eighth Street Baptist Church, 215 MLK Jr. Ave, Temple, TX 76501. Interment to be held at Temple Garden of Memories, Temple, TX.
