Funeral of Dick Golden Held Yesterday
Afternoon Buried at Westlawn

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon over the remains of Dick Golden, a miner, who was shot and killed Sunday night by George Van Meter, another miner at Coalton.

Golden died at a local hospital Monday morning following an operation to save his life. Burial took place at Weslawn.

The deceased is survived by a wife and three children.

Van Meter is being held on a murder charge in the Okmulgee county jail.

Richard was first married to Cordelia Carter in 1903. They had two children; Nora and George.

He then married Dasselina "Lena" Pompon in 1915. They had three children; a baby that died in 1915, Stella and Benjamin.

After he was murdered in 1918, Lena married his brother Thomas Anderson Golden in 1919.

He was a coal miner at the time of his death.
