Frank R. Snyder

Frank R. Snyder, 78, of Parkersburg, departed this life April 15, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Jacob and Flossie (Henthorn) Snyder.

Mr. Snyder retired from the Parkersburg Police Department after 24 years service in 1974. He later worked for Brown Food Service as the manager of Outlet Foods from 1983-2003. Frank was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was Methodist by faith. Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo (Light) Snyder; two daughters, Jane Snyder and her life partner, Bud Leadmon, and Judy Whipkey and her husband, Emil; six grandchildren, David Knotts, Angela Roush, Brandi Whipkey, Eddy Whipkey, Joseph Snyder and Rada Swedlow; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Doug Snyder.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Rob Collins and Adam Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
