R. Blanche Bacus, 83, a retired nurse at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston, died Sunday of causes related to age at Valley Rehabilitation and Living Center at Lewiston.

She was born Oct. 11, 1911, to Peter R. and Edith Wright Cooper at Keuterville, Idaho, where she grew up and graduated from high school.

She moved to Stites, Idaho, in March 1929, where she lived until the early 1940s, when she moved to Harpster, Idaho, for a brief time.

She married Jess Lynn Oct. 26, 1935, at Stites. The couple later divorced.

In the late 1940s she moved to Lewiston and in March 1959 she graduated from the school of nursing at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. She then worked for the Lewiston hospital for more than 20 years.

She married Benjamin Bacus Aug. 14, 1961, at Lewiston. He died June 7, 1975.

She was a member of the LPN Association and enjoyed gardening, yard work and her pets.

Two nieces, Anne Steadman of Weippe and Janice Wilson of Kooskia, cared for her in her later years.

Two brothers died previously.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cottonwood City Cemetery.
