Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth Brewer Ballard, 79, died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Westchester Manor.

She was born September 1, 1941 in Guilford County a daughter to the late Dudley and Lucille Kluttz Brewer. Dot attended Allen Jay High School and, in 1960, married George Wayne Ballard. After briefly living in Jacksonville, FL because of his military service, they later returned to this area where they remained until his passing in 1998. Dot retired from Family Services of the Piedmont where she received numerous awards and recognition for her passion of victim advocacy and empowering families. She had previously worked with the Summit House in Greensboro, as well as Silver Knit Hosiery. She was an avid lover of music and games at family functions. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, organizing, and genealogy. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers; and a special great-niece who was like a grandchild, Jennifer Brewer.

Surviving are her four children, Greg Ballard (Sherri) of Holden Beach, Kymm Ballard of Cary, Gary Ballard (Kim) of Archdale and Jennifer Auman (Carl) of High Point; seven grandchildren, Brittany Ballard (Sam), Seth Ballard (Victoria), Ryann Ballard (Britney), Haley Johnson (Jordan), Gracie Ballard, Callie Auman and Leah Ballard; two great-grandchildren, Marleigh Longley and Ember Ballard; a great-niece whom she loved as a grandchild, Renee Coleman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly.

Funeral services celebrating Dot's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to Family Services of the Piedmont, 1401 Long Dr. High Point, NC, 27262 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Westchester Manor and Hospice for their compassionate care.
